Don't often post on the site, more of a voyeur. Thought I'd share my newly built ride. Put together using stuff I had lying around. Was a little sceptical about how it would ride; I shouldn't have been, it was ACE!

Did an evening loop around Derwent Water (yes I used some illegal trails). Rode like a dream. Don't think it it'll get much use on some of the real rough stuff round here.

Thought the forks and stem might be too long; none of that, t'was perfect.

I didn't have time to take a decent set of piccies, but any idea on the model of Pro Class I have? I suspect the later '99 ones. I might go down the 'period correct route, but to be honest, I like the ride as is.

Is the headtube recessed? It´s difficult seeing it in the picture.
If it is than it´s a lite. Otherwise it´s a race, and a fine bike it seems to be. Looks to be a late santa cruzer.
Cool seeing another bonty on here :D

Cheers for the info Jan. I did wonder what the differences were and now I know one of them. It is therefore a Race Lite. The frame lurking behind is a Race.

Yeah, I spotted that one as well :D
Bontys are nice rides and it´s nice seeing them on this forum.
The race lite frame has a bit lighter tubing than the race.
This link is really helpful:
