When I found this website I had only two bikes. Now seven... Thank you guys...
Well, this is my second mtb: ’94 trek 930 shx - first was a Gepida Sirmium, hi-ten frame+altus C10 in ’94
Short story, I’ve bought it as a frame in 1996, black rigid forks, tioga headset, itm stem, seat clamp, and seat post. It cost a fortune as I remember… Was in near mint condition as it was too big for the previous owner so she didn’t use it much.
Due to lack of money, was 16 yo poor boy, it’s been built up with mix of cheap parts (suntour and lx hubs, campa atek rims, grip srt 500 and many heavy accessories). But I was happy with it, used daily as a commuter, going to school and mtb at the weekends, summer to winter. Added Indy C, lx front del and cranks in ’98.
I went to university in ’98 so after this active 2 years followed by a passive 2 summer, then it hang in the garage for 9 years…
Summer of 2009 I’ve decided to re-build it. Originally it was sold with STX but I thought black LX would be better. Plan was to be all black and “ice red”. Changed my mind when I saw a ’97 Merida with full XT. It was in a nice condition, so I’ve bought the wheels+set and all the cheep parts went away for pennies. Finally, I use it as a commuter and tracking MTB, strictly on road.
