This was my first mountain bike - I saved for months for this. Good that I still held on to it after all these years.

The 500LX groupset pretty much died and in 1993 I swapped over my sisters rarely used Alpine Stars full DX groupet over to this frame. I then decided it was a good idea to spend 200 quid on the original Quadras when they came out. I was soooo excited when I got them. Bloody rubbish they were.

Got some Mavic M231cd with 'unused' Ground Control tryes on XT hubs a couple of months back to make it look good again.

Thought I'd take a pic and feature it on here.

love the old kona!

been a fan of them for a few years and got one myself.
Even got a pair of those forks kicking around too.....and your right , they are crap!!

Is that a pair of power-grips on the pedals??

thought they had all rotted years ago...

I know exactly what you mean. My first bike was a 96 Lava Dome and even though its not the flagship I wouldn't want to part with it!

Nice work fella, you've clearly looked after it!
