I must admit when I set out this morning to pick up this bike I was thinking in the back of my mind that it could just be a lava dome/cindercone frame with Explosif graphics plastered on it.
But I have been pleasently suprised and it is indeed a 1993 Kona Explosif with Tange Ultimate Ultrastrong Tubing in Dark Green!
It has been unloved for some time so I took the following photos before totally stripping it in preporation for a rebuild.
I'm not sure if I'm going to go for a respray and new decals or keep it as it is.
But one think is for sure I can't wait to build this up tomorrow and go for a spin!

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement Tange decal for the tubing? If I do respray I want it to be original colours and decals.

No need to be surprised! We had already established that it was a 1993 Explosif in the World colour. The seller said his uncle brought it with him from South Africa, didn't he?

Now you wouldn't seriously buy what might be the only metallic titanium green Explosif in the UK and then get it resprayed, would you? 'Always wanted a white Explosif, loverly' Yeah yeah.

I don't think you'll find a replacement Ultrastrong decal, but if you take a good photo I expect Gil_M could sort you out. By 94 they had a slightly different sticker as below, which is the only one I've seen. Gil's decal sets don't usually include a Tange sticker as far as I am aware.

Both the decals look the same to me, well apart from the one the 'correct' orientation is glossier.

The one on the bike is just rotated 45degrees ?

Does this help ?

and and
or the newer (I think)

Hmmm, I may wake up later, you never know.

Sorry wasn't too clear in my first post. I love the colour but the frame is battered so if it was resprayed it would have to be an exact match. I'm not a big fan of white explosifs (sorry if you have one) so that didn't come into my mind.
It has cleaned up really well so with a little work I can remove the small rust patches treat it and keep as is.
I will of course post some pic's of it fully built.

Updated photos 9th April

Stripped, cleaned and rebuilt with everything replaced (except forks and derailleur!)
