1989 MTB rebuilt...

Giulio

Retro Newbie
I devided to make this project starting from an 1989 steel mtb frame. Welded with lugs using Columbus tubes. This frame is from a crafter not far from my town, I supouse he used the same tubes used by Colnago at that time...see the sections... I'm goung to make an hybrid bike mounting a road handlebar and Campagnoglo Centaur levers, ant. and post. deraillaurs, cassete and chain. Concerning the wheels, for the front I making one starting from a 36 holes Campagnolo hub with 2mm diam spokes. About the rear wheel, I could start from a WR compositi hub with campagnolo cassete, but I'm not sure, probably is better wait to fint another campagnolo rear hub...What do you suggest me for the bb (italian thread) and crankset? I'd like to use this bike even offroad...
About the brekes: post U brake promax (already installed) or shimano exage...For the front one I'd like to mount wtb cantilevers, but I lost them :-(...any other choise?
More datailed pictures coming soon!!!!

Pls let me know what you think about this project.

ps the frame has been repainted...the original color was orange/black/green with yellow decals...bleaaaa!!!

Ciao Giulio

Given the frame design, I would do it more as an expedition touring bike than the racier setup that is going on at present.
