My Gt Lightning: old and modern

  very nicely done :D do you have an accurate weight?

I like it! Nice build!

Makes me want to build also some frame with new parts...

I have a deep dislike of the aesthetics of GT's tripple triangle design, but that is stunning!

Stunning bike, no problem with the modern parts.

If I had one of those Ti beauts I'd be doing something very similar. These are rare frames especially in that condition, no point in putting old tatty or even NOS parts on that. New XTR kit is the way to go. The bike looks super sleek and 'clean' looking. The 1997 original build spec was STX-RC with the 1998 bike being a mixture of XT and LX. This bike deserves modern XTR and the Middelburns look the dogs wotsnits

Xizang is mega bucks BUT good condition Lightnings are creeping up in value and now these frames same to be costing not that much less. Pretty good for when you think about it all GT intended was in getting a non US made 'cheapo' Ti frame on the market to satisfy the markets Xizang lust fest.

That is one super-clean tasteful weight-weenie build. I really like it. Those forks look great with that frame, and the modern parts work well too.
Have you tried it with M950 XTR though?
