After finding this website, I thought I would share some pics of my bike. It's a 1995 DBR WCF vertex that I've had since 1997. I got it as a frame back in 1997, built it up then, and just recently overhauled it again. I regularly ride it hard and plan to race it next spring. It is a mix of old, new, and new old stock components. Here are a few pics...

kind of an odd mix of parts but as a rider I like it - reminds me very much of how my bikes used to look BITD -
Judy DH forks on lightweight xc frame - check
fat tyres - check
bash guard - check
riser on long stem - check
all you need are some sharkbite flat pedals and you're set.

My daily rider circa 1997 -

I don't know what type of fork tubes they are, I'll see if I can figure that out. The WCF has been great, the ride is not too harsh and it takes abuse. I think it's great that high quality components can be used for such a long period. Old Deore components, the WCF frame, and the Judy fork are all 12 years or older and work great. Here's my spec sheet...

Frame: DBR WCF Vertex 1995

Fork: Rock Shox Judy DH 1997

Headset: FSA aheadset 1997
Stem: Easton EA90 2009
Handlebar: Easton EA30 mid-rise 2009
Grips: Oury
Barends: Specialized carbon fiber when I have them on

Brakes: Deore XT v-brakes 1997
Brake Pads: Kool-stop 2009
Brake Cables: XTR 2009
Brake Levers: Deore XT 1997

Shifters:
Front Derailleur: Deore XT 1997
Rear Derailleur: XTR 1997
Derailleur Cables: XTR 2009
Cassette: XTR M950 2009 but NOS
Chain: Shimano HG-90 XT 2009 but NOS
Cranks: Deore XT 1997
Chainrings: Race Face 2009
Bottom Bracket: Shimano
Pedals: XTR 2009

Hub Skewers: Mavic
Rims: Mavic USP
Hubs: Mavic
Tyres: Continental Mountain King

Weight: 24ish I think

Nice choice 8) , now there's a bike that has evolved over the years to suit your riding.....be careful, if you hang around here too long you'll be hunting down parts to get it back near original

here's mine http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... highlight=

ditto ryan,
I like the build. I have the same approach to the rebuild of mine, get strong parts and go for it because this frame is very rewarding and capable, even when it gets rough. I put a pic here.. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... 598#620598

With racing in mind, my only regret is settling for such a heavy fork (Marazocchi FX PRO w L/O) although at the time I bought it (a year ago) my only goal was value for money. It's a great fork mind so all good.
