oh and the post is stuck in, i havent tried to remove the BB yet

anyone know how far down the seatpost is supported? the carbon section appears to be wider than the steel so it may not actually contact the post?

the incredibly tedious saw technique is being used to get the post out.

thinking about the build atm, gonna go SS and a more relaxed setup than the kona. Probably some P2's, a ritchey stem with a bit of rise and some kore XC risers. will rebuild the hubs on the OE wheels (LX and Sovos hubs on mavic 238's). Deore V's were on it when i got it, i'll use those. damaged the chainset getting it off so will need something there. have some schwalbe city jets for urban work, and the original WTB desert raptors for dirt work.

seatpost is out!

i tried redesigning the internals of the RST 381s for less travel. seuccessfully too unless you count the massive top-out they do every time you drop off something

Old DB's are the DB's imo

Never seen one of these but looks pretty bombproof as you would expect, My Dad is riding round on an old 89 Apex (smokey paint) and loves it.

What tube set is on this ?

Look forward to seeing this built.

tange cromo stays and lugs with carbon-fibre maintubes....

an interesting evolutionary dead end

now finished and ready to rock. no pics yet.

has marin rigid forks for the mo til i decide what i want and is running SS 32:16

here she is, poor shot in the man-cave. housemates BSOs in the background, and my poor kilauea robbed of its post looking forlorn

feels good, but is in my bad books atm after it let me down last night
