Here's some pics of my Univega Alpina 506 (not sure of the date approx 92-95). Single speed and built up very cheaply from the bits box.
I've always fancied trying singlespeed, and when I got this frame I thought it was an ideal candidate. I've not gone the whole hog yet, using rear mech as a tensioner and chainring from a 8 speed set and old cassette spacers to pack out the ring. It works well for now and was relatively easy to do. Hardest part was getting some washers to space out the chainring, I've ended up with some fairly wide ones and filing them down so that the chain doesn't interfere.
