A quick Saturday teaser for you. I bought this Yeti Ultimate off a really nice member on here who told me that it was in need of a load of work. The frame itself has all the usual Yeti problems:
-broken seat clamp
-BB rust
-Seat tube rust and holes

In addition it also has a number of plates crudely welded on to the seat tube to cover the damage, along with a roadie style braze on front mech hanger.

But the question is: What should I do....

1) Wall hanger to show the dangers of UK weather and classic steel
2) Bung some parts bin parts on it and ride it into the ground
3) Cut it up and turn it into something else
4) Nuts and bolts restoration

restore

Pete, you should get a new seat-tube put in it.

Hewitt cycles in leyland lancashire have a great framebuilder working for them who should be able to tackle this.

These old YETI'S are getting to rare and collectible to give up on.

I restored a YO other year and its agreat feeling getting it back to as new condition

I agree. It's not dead by any means, its really a question of how much you spend to get it back to something useable.

It also depends on how quickly you want something to ride.

I'd probably hang in on the wall for now, with a view to fixing it when the time is right.

I was gonna say hang it on the wall thinking there's still a few of these kicking about but on second thoughts a new seat tube would sort it out....
