Here's an original spec GT Pantera that I purchased for a refurb, Serial Number SAS6C2013 with STX groupset.

Posting this in a new post as I wanted to show the build from start to finish with pics

When it was delivered it was pretty grubby so I initially decided on a refurb of the parts present. As I started the clean-up I had a moment of madness and decided to totally rebuild with as many NOS parts as possible. Wanted to get it looking nice and shiny again. Here's a couple of pics of what it was liked delivered and the initial strip down

The original STX Crankset was a bit dirty and tarnished and I thought I'd give it a go. Dishwasher and a bit of Autosol and it came up nice and shiny :D

Although the crankset was looking Ok I was still not happy with it

So I set my sights on sourcing some of the NOS STX-RC ones. Bingo got some along with the following

NOS STX-RC Cantilever Brakes front and rear
NOS STX-RC Shifter / Brake pods
NOS Pantera Decals
Mavic Wheelset

I was also able to source some stuff of RetroBike (Thanks guys)

NOS STX Front Mech
Mint STX-RC Rear Derailleur
KORE Stem

I also committed some sacrilege and sourced some modern parts

Raceface XC Seatpost
Cane Creek Headset
Easton Flat Bars
GT Grips
Shimano Square Taper BB

Then the stripping and polishing of the frame followed. Whatever anyone tells you, this is not easy and is quite simply a bitch of a job

So I polished the frame and started the rebuild, wanted to go for a front suspension and had a spare set of Indy C's in the shed. So here's a couple of pics of the job in progress

Don't worry the white stem was only temporary

Next job Decals and starting to finish the build. Decals sourced from the states and although slightly different from the originals they were listed as Original NOS.

OK so the bikes finished (apart from chain  )

It looks good and is quite light, not 100% happy with the seat post but it will do for now. Hint anybody out there with a 27.2 mint or NOS black seat post for sale PM me !!

Forks may stay or not haven't decided yet. I am on the look out for a set of Mint Quadra's or Mag 21's (that's another hint by the way :D )

Looks and feels like a new bike, frame is nice and shiny and I think it's going to be a keeper. Another bike resurrected from the dead and should last a few more years yet.

Another GT for my collection, the wife is REALLY happy
