Howz about some Retro XTR goodness for the ride?

I always wanted a set of the XTR cantis when they were the thing. Picked up 3 wheels worth the other day for $30. Two wheels worth even had new Ritchey pads! (my favorite brakepad).

Mounted them up and I'm as impressed with them as I'd hoped I'd be : )

I'm guessing these are about 94 vintage xtr's, but they might be as late as 96's.

Does anybody apart from me just add washers to the bolts for their single speed cranks?

Sure it adds a "little" bit of weight; but so much has usually just come off.

Mike, I just file the first 1/32" off the backing nut and use them stock. Everything bolts right up and tightens down correctly. Took about 5 mins with a flat file to cut all the backing nuts down.

I would feel so lazy right now, if I actually owned a file.
The washers are cheaper

That bike is superb by the way. 8)

I agree on the bike, lovely - but why not use fixing bolts for made track chainsets? They're designed for SS!

Thanks everyone! I'll make sure to get some more pics of it this weekend.

I was about to order a set of single ring fixing bolts, then I decided to measure the stock Shimano parts. They were just a few thousandths too long to fit, so a few passes of a file allowed me to save another $15 on the project.
