So.... I find myself owning another Kirk :o. When I saw member peetee was selling a Kirk I was reminded of my previous encounter with the cast magnesium alloy bikes... http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... Revolution

Although this time I'll try and keep things (relatively) normal
The bike is the Revolution "200" model, so I'm guessing originally just a lower spec to the black 400 I had previously, although this bike has seen a few component changes over the years (Girvin Flexstem and the Suntour XC LTD Chainset for example).
All I've done so far is swap out the tyres for a matching pair. General condition is pretty good, more in the "rider" category than "garage queen", which suits me just fine.
I'll get around to fitting new brake pads and the replace the tatty saddle, I actually have virtually the same saddle sat in my box of parts, must be fate!
The forks have been resprayed black at some point, I can see the original teal(?) colour in a few tiny areas, so having had a bit of fun with rattle can paint on my Proflex recently I may try and take the forks back to the original colour at some point, although this is likely to be a slow project as I've a couple of others on the go at the moment.

I did notice the cable guides are the non-slotted variety, sure I read somewhere that the earlier/later frames had slotted cabke guides? I'm assuming this is a later midel as it has "Assembled by Dawes" printed on the frame.

I know these aren't the most spectacular things to ride, but the spectacular looks make up for it as far as I'm concerned :D

Keep it dry in storage and make sure any paint chips are at least sealed as magnesium has a habit of very crazy quick oxidation
