OOOOOoooo!

Although I think the lotus engine needs attention... makes a lot of wheezing sounds...

my legs aren't up to that much either :D

in fact with your wheezing accompanied by my huffing 'n' puffing in conjunction with the forks making a noise somewhat like busted bellows we’ll sound like an advert for a heart attack or the backing sound to a low budget porn movie….

All we need is a Dutchman masquerading as a washing machine engineer with a big moustache and a horney Swedish housewife…

Darn
those voices in my head need to stop talking to me, or I need to stop listening

Heart attacks don’t sound like that. They’re very serene actually.

For once tiz you being the serious one and me playing the clown,

Perhaps my analogy above was a little insensitive (apologies) to what came close to being a proper life threatening episode for you
Thank god you had a return ticket and not a single on that journey !

I like the way this is shaking up Nick.

I bet it took a while to clean after you planted the chainset for one of those photos!

To be honest the grass in that lawn is quite thick so wasn’t buried as deep as you’d first think, and it cleaned off quickly

they say a picture never lies but the effect is less impressive in real life of it being buried in the lawn than the picture portrays

Operation Magura

After looking at the un natural bend in the front hydraulic line resulting from the change / swap of levers from UK to Euro style I wanted to move the line to the other side and get rid of the awkward kink as it bends back on itself

You can just about see the ungainly bend at the extreme top of this pic

After removing the line I thought it would be just a case of plumbing it into the other side, however that tuned out NOT to be the case, as one caliper/piston takes the main line and drilled for M8 in and an M6 for out - the other side has two M6 holes.

Since Magura aren't side specific I then decided to swap them over (Left to right), - Job done ! however where one had been taken On and Off in order to release the front wheel it was badly chipped on the rear and the white primer was showing through which wasn't noticeable until you turn them round and the back becomes the front - Thwarted once again

Having read a recent post on refurbing HS33's by Baznap I thought I'd have a go at it myself however I wasn't brave enough to cover mine with paint stripper,
so re-read the thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=385879 and stuck a post in the wanted section for a donor and Foz came to my rescue with this :D

After finding a few old bolts to plug the holes and stop crud entering the hydraulic system I covered them in modern crappy paint stripper which I have to say easily took off the Blue

Should have taken a pic of it naked (but I didn't) the casting marks were to pronounced that I had to get a needle file and 800 grit carbide paper to the front face in order to get a smooth surface

Then white etch primer (no pics either  )

After a day to cure and a light key it was followed by a coat of Guards Red which I hoped would be as close to the original red on the frame as possible

and from a different angle with the M6 and M8 bolt - Pictures are crap as it kept swinging

few days later having appled the waterslide graphics and allowed drying out before a coat of clear coat - here we are, just need to let it cure/harden now before I try and fit it.
how durable the finish is remains to be seen but I have used 2K clear coat just encase

Hopefully Mr Foz will let me have the other side with the M6/M6 drilling and I can have a matching pair that fit as Guards Red might match the frame but its not the same colour Magura painted theirs with so currently I have mis-matching sides :?

Great job, would it not have been easier to touch up the chips though? And are they the decals that come with the bike, the porsche bit, or something youi added? i like them either way 8)

They are badly chipped and even with the exact match in paint it would have looked poor

Anyway where’s your sence of adventure, and when you can choose/make the decals yourself why not experiment you can always start over again if it goes wrong

Besides if we were sensible we’d chuck all this nonense and nostalgia for out of date - out moded tat that we spend good time and money on to one side .... and buy new

Just found this thread again... The other caliper half will be on it's way soon, let me know if you need any other bits too!
