I love these bikes, used to own an Intrepid and now own a Starship, they always seemed to have a long top tube (which I like). If it's an early one it will have a 1.25” head tube (they went to 1.125" in the mid 90’s). Your one looks like it has a Risse Genesis rear shock, you can still get replacement shocks and parts; http://www.risseracing.com/airshocks.shtml#genesis

I think there are a few owners here that may be able to help out with any other questions.

the Defiant started as Gazelle,.

i have an earlier one, with another kind of spring in the tube

if you want to sell it, just let me know,.... ;)

Nice one. Is it one of the two that were on ebay a couple of months ago ( maybe less)?

Nice example. Gives me something to shoot for. This will be somewhat long term as I have a few in the pipeline. Next build to finish.... 88 Monster Fat for the GF.

Great links to the archived website- cool- ta!

Heavy but absolutely superb looking bikes.

Think they're all single butted cro mo tubes. Hence weighty.

The steel ones were made out of 4130, but they also made aluminium and titanium frames for all their models. My old 4130 Intrepid frame was about 7 lb  whereas my Starship is under 5 lb :)
