In 1992 I became the proud owner of a Dyna Tech Quantum, bought from the shop I worked in as the Saturday boy. Bicycle Chain Bridgwater when it was on the Taunton Road.

I used to commute from Taunton to Bridgwater on my home painted Peugeot Pro-Am Index built with an eclectic mix of parts and a handlebar bag with my lunch and trainers in.

I loved it very much indeed. :D

And I raced it at Cheddar, took it to the Worlds as Newnham Park.

Rode it all over the hills, upgraded it. Perfect bike.

It was stolen in 1995, mugged off me actually.

I was just about to go off to start my training at sea and so it never got replaced. I discovered cars and stuff but it kept nagging me.

I wanted another one!

I found one last year, via a post on Facebook and from a member on here, Clive I can't remember your Retrobike name so feel free to chime in!

It was very original, brochure spec infact.

This left me with a quandry. I wanted to build exactly what I had... but I also wanted to keep it original.

The knackered Mag20's kind of helped make my mind up to go rigid, so I compromised on changing the Mechs to XT, sapping the stem to a Control Tech and the saddle to a Flite but leaving th rest alone.

In the 1990's my original Quantum wore a Tioga Psycho on the front and a IRC Geo Claw on the rear, these are very hard to find now so I settled on an Dart / Smoke reissue set.

I stripped and polished the bars as I did back then as well.

Enjoy!

very cool, love the history with what weve all been up to over the years and why we do it still :)

Bicycle chain was my LBS as a young'un, but I picked things up around 1996 or so. Good shop, never quite the same after they moved to that warehouse
