Re: Lava Dome cable routing

Hi

I see you just taken delivery of a Lava Dome. I am currently part way through restoring my own Lava Dome (93).

Could you tell me how the routing of the cables go? Any advise much appreciated.

Cheers

The rear brake cable runs along the top tube, the front and rear mech cables run down the downtube under the bb shell :)

Re:

The box is now open to reveal a rare 1992 Kona Kilauea :D
This is a Kona i've been after for ages once i found out they existed and that they shared what became the 93 Lavadome and Cindercone's frame and forks.

First impressions,i'm very happy with the overall condition of it,a classic survivor bike. First thing's i want to change though is the DX hubbed Mavic back wheel and the Panaracer Smoke tyre for DX hubbed Araya RM17 rear wheel to match the front and a Joe Murray propulsion rear tyre. Pretty sure Kona didn't put a mish mash set of wheels on it.

Next thing to do is strip the bike down to the frame and forks and rebuild from there.

Thanks for the info.Surely the Mavic/Panaracer combo would be better to keep and change the front.

I probably would've done it that way mate but i'm going to restore it back to as it would've came out the shop in 92.

Re: 1992 Kona

 that looks in good condition. I think they have the '93 geometry too. Very nice and im sure it will look even nicer when you have finished with it :)
