Well 89 actually. With a flake. Stripped and assessed. I'd say that's the worst of it. Bit of kurust and a touch-up required.

Just off out to the model shop. More on my return.

Back with acrylic art paint kit and tins of humbrol enamel. Lots of fun ahead. Well, threaded actually but that doesn't make any sense.

Looks tidy at a distance...

Will have a play with the kurust. Tubes are solid. I think.

Bottom bracket cups and balls are shot. Was an absolute pig to get out. Luckily i have a spare so will polish up the old axle and swap everything else across.

And that’s before I paint it.

I like how it looks like a crime scene. Involving a bludgeoning. By a crazed Manson type gang.

Something i have noticed is that the fork steerer shows the original yellow to be a nice vivd bright one, rather than the mustard that is has become everywhere on view. I think i might just try overpainting it all in the original colour coppying the splatter. What could possibly go wrong?

Spokes are really nasty rusty so I thought i'd see what was in the loft. Look what i found! Period correct Araya/exage with a ground control on the back and a muddy fox on the front. Even has a nice cassette with good range. They need a good clean but run true and smooth.

Should the spoke protector go? It's a bit imposing/
