Nuke Proof Carbon/Titanium Racer

When James Bethea left our Team Brooklyn ATB for a factory ride with Nuke Proof I was both ecstatic for him and sad for our Team.

James hit the big time and was featured in ads and in interviews.



Always wanted a Nuke Proof but until recently the Ti wondermachines eluded me.

Then Mr. Ship posted a rather odd and different bike frame - one seen only in the NP mini-catalogue and once in the ever so soft hands of a unicorn herd owner and regular contributor to this forum.

I reconnected with James after more than 20 years and landed the unique Carbon/Ti Nuke Proof from Richard who also helped me with a few other items.

Finding NP bars and bar ends was tough.
Getting the Ti Twisters was nigh on impossible.

Plenty of Carbon and Ti hubs around and I'll be swapping the carbon version on soon.

James provided an original Team Nuke Proof skinsuit and I dedicated the build to incorporating nearly every sponsor in honor of James and his leap from sponsored local racer to the big leagues.

So did you ever find out if this was a frame produced or a prototype Study etc....?

Well done Paul, looks great. It was a wrench to let this go but it went to a good home.
Pretty sure these were never production frames although maybe try to contact John Muenzenmeyer to find out for definite.
Just be careful if you decide to ride it!!!

I was out riding thus missed your warning

James' description was spot on - it goes exactly where you point it.
No wandering, no frame windup no wobble.

Angles must be similar to my usual JT setup. Quick steering and easy to pick through rocks and roots.

The bike felt "familiar and I was immediately at home on trails I know so well that I know when the seat is off by a few millimeters. Speaking of which, I must not have tightened the seat enough since the nose tilted forward a bit after a little jump.

Everything else worked perfectly and I must say - I like these tires!

Overall - three thumbs up!

Now I want an all Ti Nuke Proof.

As said on mtbr, this is so much awesomeness.

This bike was one of my unicorns long time ago, congrats for such a stunnig build; thumbs up for James Bethea too
