Hello all. I have finally acquired a GT Zaskar LE, the mountain bike I lusted over as a pimple-faced teen, but could not afford. This site has been immensely informative for me, so I figured I should create a profile on here. Anyways, here are some pictures of her. All of the components are not original, and I am not sure if I want to restore it to original or just make period correct. I do know that I want to get my hands on an original xtr groupo. Cheers from warm, sunny, Southern California :D

Its a 1994 model year frame too. Even says so on the serial number - enjoy the polishing but remember its ball burnished so just a dry cotton cloth will be enough to bring it up a treat.

I read it as 0693? I thought the model year for GTs changed in September (09).

It is 0693 - could a 93 frame come out of the factory with 94 decals? They look pretty aged. Now I really don't know where to go with it - get 93 or 94 decals? Rigid fork or rock shox?

There are a good amount of scratches on the frame, some of them pretty deep by the crankset from chain suck. I've read on here that autosol aluminum works well on them, so I'll probably try that.

I have an identical month and year Zaskar to you with the same decals, I believe the decals are Tech shop ones. I am wanting to stick 93 ones on it as there are differences to the actual later 93 built for 94 frames compared to these - mainly the rear dropouts are machined out for weight saving.
