Thought it was about time to actually get a Reader's Bikes thread up and running. Acquired on here from xxnick1975 recently. Nick has done a superb job in rescuing it and his story is here;

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=321979

Long story short.... Found abandoned in a house clearance in a village near Glasgow. Restored by Nick who kept all the original bits where practicable. It is pretty much in 1988 specification and is still wearing original wheels, stem, bars and running gear. The paint is obviously 'tired' but personally, I am a big fan of originality so it will keep its 'patina' and get used as is.

For a bike that has obviously had a fairly lengthy spell of inactivity, 2015 has been a busy one for it.

Sold on eBay in March like this in Scotland;

Returned down South and restored by Nick over the Summer;

It features the full XT specification but has the Mavic Oxygen rims and a 105 headset - presumably to hand when being built. Found this Overbury's 1988 spec sheet on here - many thanks to who posted it.

I have just acquired some Ritchey Quads which it would have worn originally - will get them on and photographed soon.....

About time you posted up a bike thread Si and a nice one you chose to share :D looking forward to more pics soon

Thanks for the comments chaps :) I was just looking at the 1988 specification sheet - what was the 'Sella Italia Mountain' saddle that was correct for 1988?
