One of my pals had one of those Marins...it got me into biking!
It was incredibly comfortable to ride and really reassuring to throw around. We used to call it the 'flying armchair'...

Oh, I have a tear in my eye. Definitely worth smartening up!

my '91 palisades was really comfortable to ride and felt really stable at speed. this one is going to need a bit of work but don't want to spend shed loads on it. may have to just be re spray and just replace whats knackered.

hey! i see you're form the new forest. thats my stomping ground.

The thing that sticks in my mind about marins of the era was the matt grey paint, which I still think is ubercool.

I'd go for the grey with one or two small dayglo orange highlights.

If its 1988, it's worth a bit of effort and a simple single colour refurb shouldn't break the bank.

:)
