Well finally i've managed to collect all the nos parts so it was time to bring the explosif out of hibernation

I'd always planned on having this bike built with new deore ll parts,just didn't think it would take as long to find them. I'm also planning on building the 1990 cindercone at the same time as this,hopefully i'm picking that up from the shop tonight after having another headset fitted.

So here's a quick pic as it is now..

Nice, I must drag mine out of hibernation - it isn't half as tidy as yours though! I found a NOS headset to replace the original which was damaged and very notchy. Did you know they are JIS? My steerer tube, stamped 1988 has 27.0 also stamped on it.

Aye it's my favourite out of my whole collection of the splatter paints.

This will be getting built at the same time as the explosif gets overhauled,as well as 5 others that'll gatecrash the thread

Just changed the saddle to a nos avocet racing 2,amazing how a saddle can change the look of a bike.

And look what's snuck in on the photoshoot,the explosifs younger brother,it must be wanting an overhaul aswell

Been busy today,you know when you get in a zone and you can't stop that was me with these konas

Starting with the cindercone,all the parts are on just need to pinch the deore ll pedals off the 89 explosif and switch the cassette over and it's ready for cables. I've went for a mixture of nos deore ll and nos dx with some nos Ritchey rims and nos wild grippers and nos XT,once it's complete i'll get more photos done.

Next up it's the so called ugly duckling of the kona family

I've never liked suntour stuff so i went for the equivalent Shimano groupset which was deore lx. It's a mixture of nos and cleaned up parts and some nice black lx hubs

I'll be pinching the deore ll chainset off the 89 explosif and switching to black chainrings,should set it off nice.
