1996 Dekerf Generation

Chickenball

Retro Guru
Well here it is....my inspiration was FMJ so I GOTTA give him props! I've always wanted a Dekerf and I was able to buy one via EBay back last year (fall I do believe). I left it with Chris Dekerf for a new paint job and I also requested a stem/bar combo for it! Fast forward about 4 months to early this year when I paid him a visit....my bike wasn't done nor the combo! He apologized and was gracious enough to let me know about a tuning fork where a deposit was made for the fork but the owner backed out.....I accepted and asked to be painted the colour you see! I picked it up around February and I had plans for a XTR 95x build (to beat RetroRoy at Toxik's Show and Shine)....but I lost to his Rek Tek (ARGH)! But enough chatter....here it is!

What it looked like....

Re:

no accounting for taste is there. :D
but a nice try it was. it was the nicest dekerf entered.
real beauty. love that fork.
that is why I moved it front and center instead of
in the rack with all the others.

Roy....that Rek Tek was a beast! Loved it. Next year though...I GOTCHA!!!!
that's the attitude I like to see. good healthy competition.
but you have no idea what I have waiting in the wings
for next year. you better have something very good.
come out to paul's show and shine next weekend and
and see the `tip of the iceberg'. ;)

Re:

Lovely bike and that bar/stem combo and Tuning Fork

that's a stunning DeKerf... loving the stem/bar combo, fork and the colour choice!

Re:

Thanks for the compliments folks (except for retroroy....just kidding)! Roy actually gave me a new purpose and I was close to leaving the whole retromtb. I met a couple if new friends and with the support of a couple of members I'm back! I would like to finish 3 more builds before the end of this year and have them ready for next seasons show!

Re:

Lovely bike; I´ve a Generation too & it´s a lovely ride.

Are you sure it´s a 1996 model ? in the first pic I notice the Reynolds 725 tubing decal; as per Dekerf says in it´s web:

"1998: The Team SL got a further refinement with the addition of Reynolds 853 chainstays. The Generation also joined the Reynolds family by being constructed of Reynolds 725. The road frame ('Prodigy') was back, also sporting a Reynolds 853 main triangle and chainstays. The most talked about frame for 1998 was the Team ST - the softtail. This frame used a steel spring in the monostay and special chainstays from Ritchey to provide almost an inch of travel on an otherwise hardtail frame."
