Unknown Townsend mtb

Retro Newbie
Dear reader,

Here a post from the Netherlands.

I recently required a mountainbike in bad shape because I like the frame and it has Shimano biopace-SG.

The headbadge says Townsend, but the logo (see picture) is unknown to the Townsend factory today (producent fancy children's mtb's), even to a guy who's working there since 1988.

So: I don't have a clue on the origins of this bike.

Do the pictures ring a bell to one of the forum members?

Thanks For your help in advance, best,

Hans

Hi Hans, where's the picture?!

Townsend , Lew ways ,Pacific , Apollo frame
Cheap rubbish , but a suprisingly nice riding frame
Dress it up in 400 lx and tioga stuff , or better

Mike

Thank you Mike, I already feared the bike was from such source, but I do like the frame. Thanks For the tip, I'll look into it.

Looks like a Townsend warlord to me, I used to drool over this when I was about 7!

I could be wrong, distinctive shaped frame and colour though...

Re:

I forget exact year but early 90s
There was a chap on here that used to work for them delivering them. Long time back reading it but iirc they used to sell more frames as seconds than they did as retail bike.
Bargain basement things, at the 200 to 400GS sort of level.

But they have an estay so soooo cooool

Re:

Thanks again, low marked, these Townsend things (not what I hoped of course), but I still like the frame so I'll start rebuilding. See where it ends.
