Hello all. Picked this up yesterday after an idle bid on ebay hit the jackpot. Aside from a stuck seatpost it all seems in pretty good condition with a straight frame and serviceable parts.

After having to sell my mint 91 Prestige while my fiancee was on maternity leave the ultimate plan for this will be to restore it back to 1992 spec, probably with a set of RC35's. It will never be a minter but providing I can get the seatpost out without damaging the paint it should build up in to a nice rider. Those following my yellow/white Clockwork will know progress tends to be slow round brock towers these days but here's some pictures of it exactly as collected.

Re:

It's an interesting one this as although the frame is a 1992 virtually all the kit is 1994 STX. Even the wheels are STX on Mavic 230's so fit in with the spec on my old 1994 C16.

Add to this that the frame seems to have purple under the orange and orange under the white paint which suggests it's had a respray after initially being the colour below. I seem to remember another member thinking this had been done to their bike?

With all this in mind my best guess of the history is that the purple/orange colour was not very popular so Orange got a batch of frames resprayed in a colour that would sell once the frame design changed. By 1994 the Prestige was no more so they built the remaining frames up with current parts and sold them at a discount. Sounds plausible to me anyway. :D

Re:

Tuning in on this one :D

I have no doubt you will work your magic and it will look spot on ;)

Re:

Nice project

Get cracking on the plusgas/penetrating oil. From top from the seat post exposed and from the bottom through the bottle cage mounts.

It will see that post move I'm sure.

Re:

Thanks chaps. Defo need to get some penetrating oil but where's the best place? I assume Halfords will stock it?

Re:

Hi, you can get penetrating oil at B&Q, in spray form, or motor places such halfords would probably stock it. Nice frame, I was watching it on eBay to see what it went for, bargain :p , glad you got it! look forward to your build! :)

Re:

Seems odd they didn't dump these '92s earlier when they moved to Prestige Supertubing. Also the fact they never stripped them of paint first and do a proper job. (and keep them light)

Nice to see you collecting again :)

Wilko's if you have them out there sell PlusGas and it's on tinternet too. WD40 do a penatrator specific now as well now it's moved to a brand name.
