Found this one listed on CL in Detroit a few months back. 1997 or 1998 model? The original kit wasn't exactly to my tastes, so I stripped it down and slowly picked up what I wanted for it.

Still haven't reached a decision on the fork. It came with a 100mm fork and felt right. So I'm tempted not to mess with that. Any thoughts?

Also, has anyone seen another 2/3rd green one before? This is the only one I've seen in this color. Although I did see a similarly painted custom ti 'una' on mtbr a while back.

Re:

Cool - there is a thread on here with one like this in a trade show I think.

Here's the build kit and wheelset so far. Mostly XTR m950, race face, and King.

good find - it's a 98

I would go for a fork with max. 80 mm travel - some Marz. Z? or a nice SID.

build kit looks promising :)

Re:

Lovely frame. I tend to lose interest a little after 94 but this really looks nice

Oh well .... here it is

Really nice & cool frame Pete, congratulations ;)

I'll follow your rebuild and I'm sure it will be a stunning Hei Hei

Greets from Italy

Interesting. Have you got a serial number you can share with us?

Not sure the red is necessary (jockey wheels / skewers) as it might clash and detract from the unusual green/ti schema (which is growing on me).

Thanks for the feedback, Gentlemen.

Frank, the Fox that I had was actually an F100. But yeah, I kind of wish I'd have kept it now... at least to see how it mocked up. I like your IB's but prefer my white LPs for this build, I think. Some of these final decisions will come down to the fork. If I can find a 1998 or 1999 Z2 Bam at 70 or 80mm, in great condition, in a color I can live with, then great. I'm also thinking of an older (albeit not period correct) Fox Vanilla 125 in black (they're easy to convert down to 80mm) or maybe an older F80 in white. Or maybe a Float or Talas, although they're lower on the list. I've been looking for the right fork now for 2 months and just haven't found what I'm looking for...probably because I'm not 100% convinced on what I want just yet.

Appreciate the comments on color. I'll wait and see how the little bit of red matches with the bright green. They're complimentary colors after all, so they generally work well with one another. That said, it's very little red and I don't think it'll grossly stick out at all. There's a lot of black (hubs, spokes, tires, headset, stem, post, bar, grips, etc) and dark gray, so I think I can get away with a little color at the jockey wheels, skewers and crank bolt covers.

The serial number is KH18047. From a quick google search, I think that means it's a 1998? 18" frame. Also has the 'MADE IN USA' engraving right above the serial. Or, here's a pic (forgot I took one).
