Edited as follows: Did not fall in love with Funk as expected, so have sold the frame to another retrobiker (so all is not lost!). Am looking for an Ozone CO2 and am going to hold out for one now. Might buy the only one available, even though it is a little small and then transfer the build if I find another one.

Original Post ran like this:

Right then, frame not here yet, but photos when it does turn up, promise.

Wanted to run my proposed spec by you all. This will take an age to build, so hope to keep this updated in (expensive) stages. I am not a retro-head, so not looking for authenticity, but must ride and look good if I am going to spend this money on it. My thoughts so far (green means I already have the bits):

Frame: Funk something, from around '92, 17" ish - will confirm when it turns up! Thinking about finishing this in a dark matt gunmetal with silver decals.

Fork: Manitou Comp (as new, thanks Andy.l)

Headset: CK Devolution, silver, to run 1 1/8" fork and stem.
Stem: Thomson Elite 25.4.
Handlebar: Bonty/Titec Ti from my '94 Explosif as no-one wanted to buy it!
Grips: Probably Yeti as that is what I normally use.
Barends: X-Lite, to be refinished same colour as frame (sorry, I love barends).

Brakes: XT Cantis (as new from Doug), or maybe XT Vs at front.
Brake Pads: Whatever comes on the Cantis!
Brake Cables: Whatever I get my hands on, black.
Cantilever cable hangers: TBC
Brake Levers: TBC

Shifters: DX Thumbies (VGC, thanks Colin)
Front Derailleur: 31.8mm XT M736 or DX
Rear Derailleur: Deore DX (VGC, thanks Colin) - just because I want to!
Derailleur Cables: Whatever.
Cassette: The 8-speed one in my shed.
Chain: TBC
Cranks: Cooks CBR (the ones on my gallery, need lots of work!)
Crank Bolts: TBC
Chainrings: TBC
Chainring bolts: TBC
Bottom Bracket:The UN52 it came with looks fine to me
Pedals: Whatever I take off my other bikes to put on it, probably SPD.

Hub Skewers: TBC (Maybe KORE)
Rims: XC 717 with braking surface, silver.
Hubs: Hope XC Disc, silver (so I can share them with my FS Tomac).
Nipples: TBC
Spokes: TBC
Tyres: TBC
Tubes: 2 from the shed!

Saddle: Flite.
Seatpost: Thomson Elite silver (layback?).
Seatpost Binder: The one that came with it, no idea what it is though!

Weight: Irrelevant with me on it!
Cost: TBC

Key hold-ups will be me ummming and arring about paint/powder and then saving for both the paint job and the wheels to be built. Reckon this will take minimum 6 months, more likely a year and will not be immaculate on day one. I intend to keep the thing once done so am happy to go with using the bar/BB etc if they are OK, then upgrading later on.

Edited 9 Jun as the frame is now here, hooray, but looks small, booo.

Sounds sweet Luke - gunmetal should look wicked (make sure you get extra coats of laquer to make that sucker SHINE

Sounds like a good proposed spec.

KORE qr's, good call. Just popped a set on my RTS, love them

Whos that in your avatar BTW?

There is something about KORE, always wanted a set. We shall see.

Today's avatar chick is Drew Barrymore, a goddess in my eyes. Just the right mix of girl-next-door, cheeky, not too perfect, would buy you a beer and have one herself, and undoubtedly dirty with it!

Right then, have a set of forks, quite pretty and should suit it pretty well!

Now, where is that frame??? Should be here this week, but I am sooooooo impatient!

Nice forks

I have rediscovered my love of Manitous (ran some on my DB BITD) since scoring some for my LTS.

Nice example you have there ;)
