Been wanting to attempt a full build for some time and luckily acquired this frame and forks back in August from manitou916.

I already have 2 aluminium USA mtb's, so some British steel was very appealing plus I think the combination of lugs and brazing looks great!

(Although I am not sure whether the tubing is Columbus or Reynolds, I must contact Yates to see if they can help.)

So the build begins, I admit I am struggling due to being so impatient, but components are slowly arriving through the post with thanks to some sellers on here and scouring the evil bay too.

Hopefully by Xmas I would of decided what colour to paint it, I did initially want the same as the Ritchey P-20 a red, white and blue fade, but not sure on the fade quality using powder coat? I may go with one metallic colour such as bronze burst or sunken treasure?

Question would it be frowned upon/wrong if I grind off the eyelets off the rear drop outs and forks for a cleaner look?

Re: 1992 Dave Yates Diablo

Really looking forward to seeing the finished result ! Would love an old yates just all models that turn up are far too small for me.

Re: 1992 Dave Yates Diablo

Many thanks guys, I'm trying but acquiring decent condition pre 93 XT parts that aren't silly money is an effort.

Re: 1992 Dave Yates Diablo

Managed to get a few hours in today to refurb the pedals I received earlier this week.
