Bought this off another forum member as an interim run about between the Hot and the Hei Hei (and the fact that the Explosif is still a restoration project!). Spec is very close to original 1997 spec and is as follows:

Frame: 1997 Kilauea - Columbus Cyber

Fork: Black Kona Project 2 Triple Butted

Headset: Cane Creek S6
Stem: Tahoam Sonne 4
Handlebar: Kona Race Light
Grips: Oury Lock-On
Barends: n/a

Brakes: XT V-brakes M739
Brake Pads: XT
Brake Cables: XTR outers & inners
Cantilever cable hangers: n/a
Brake Levers: Avid Speed Dial 1.9L

Shifters: XT M739
Front Derailleur: LX M567
Rear Derailleur: XTR M952 with KCNC jockey wheels
Derailleur Cables: XTR inners & outers
Cassette: LX 8spd
Chain: KCMC
Cranks: LX M569
Crank Bolts: Standard shimano
Chainrings: LX M569

Great little run about which I may single speed once the Hei Hei is built up.

Well that's pretty nearly original I must say! I think that must be the straightest Tahoma seatpost anywhere on earth.

Personally I'm not a proper retrobiker, so I had zero compunction about swapping out those heavyweight wheels for some Merlins, ditto the heavyweight tyres for some Explorer/Escape. But I do agree that there's something to be said for the original spec.

But at least I had the right colour P2s! :wink:
