1984 Chesini X-Uno road racer

I built this in 1984 and it is still pretty much in it's original configuration. Only the brake handles have been changed.

The Nouvo Record parts (hubs, cranks, seatpost and headset) comes from an older (mid 70's) Crescent roadie that I chrashed mightily with, they were the only usable parts left when the dust had settled.
So, armed with a couple of months worth of paychecks I ordered the frameset and the rest of the componentry, started building and ended up with this.
24 years on, I still use it regularly. Many thousands of miles have passed under it's wheels.

Classy ride, how on earth are the gear cables routed around the BB?

I'm gonna have to learn how to do bar-tape like that!

There is a sleeve with grooves for the cables around the crank axle and the bottom bracket housing has an opening underneath.

Not difficult at all. It's just two wraps going in opposite directions, over and under each other. But while doing it, I sometimes wish I had three hands...

Well, you learn something new every day! Even after 47 years of biking I've not seen that before - thanks for the link.

The bike looks great, I have a real soft spot for classic Italian bikes. The bar tape looks really cool!
