Dirt Disciple
Hello, long time lurker, first time poster here.

I have had from new the above bike. Its been used lots inbetween periods of idleness due to new bikes, my lazyness ETC. Its been rebuilt a couple of times over the years and now after 2 years hanging in the garage after use as a commuter i have stripped it again.

My main issue is the rust that has appeared. Obviously the bikes a keeper after all this time so i was thinking of a full respray but will i be able to replace the decals etc? I dont want the bike to look like a fake Specialized so should i touch up the rust and embrace the patina?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Re:

Looks like surface rust still. However based on the look of that BB shell in the 2nd picture I wouldn't wait too long to address the problem.
Personally, I'd have it stripped and repainted (or powder coated) in the same colour.

The first place I'd go for decals is Gil_M, who probably has yours on file already. If he doesn't have them yet, with some good photos and measurements he can replicate them.
The best way to contact Gil is by mail at gil@thecycleshed.co.uk

Powdercoat - around fifty quid. Get some forks done at the same time (specialised direct drive are really nice).

Then rebuild it again. Gil_m will have decals as above.

Welcome to the site.
