New Saracen project

Celicarob

Dirt Disciple
Just acquired this Saracen frame. Around 1990 ish I think.
Looks a bit rough I know but I plan to refinish it.
Has the rear brake line routed through the top tube.
And the short cross piece between the seat stays is square section and has the Saracen name on it.
I don't know which exact model it is. Any ideas?

Will go nicely with my '96 BackTrax

Has been spray painted previously so not in it's original colour. Came to me in bits with canti brakes and a Zoom stem.
Seat tube is round section but tapers to oval section where it joins the bottom bracket.

Re:

Catalogue is on the archive section chap.. Any clues?

Colour?

Is it u brake or canti ?

Never seen that square seatstay bridge before. I can tell you it's not a '89 Kili which shared the top tube routed cable.

Re:

I have a feeling you are right, it's not something really nice, like a Kili
It feels quite heavy to me.
But I am a newbie when it comes to old MTBs.
( if that makes sense Lol)

Re:

I've seen the square section bit before, but it was on a 1991 Trekker Competition Hydrotech e-stay.

I suspect that this is a 1991 Eiger Extreme frame. Would have been a Halfords only bike with a similar, if not identical spec, to the Tufftrax Extreme. So Tange tubing and 400LX components.

Here's one look:

Re:

Interesting. Thanks for the reply.
The frame is now at my local powder coaters for a shot blast and refinish.
I chose a sort of light green colour ( I think)
Let's see how it looks when I get it back.

Re:

Ok got the frame back from the powder coaters.
Looks good I think. Nice finish.
