Sooo.. after two years of looking I recently found my first Ti frame (89 Merlin) then out of nowhere I found two more ti frames within one week of eachother!

second one is a 93 Kona Ti, this third one is a 1996 Nukeproof Ti frame..

The original owner had it built up by a local mechanic and then decided to move onto another frame instead... so I was able pick it up as a complete build... I will probably keep the M950 group on it as it goes well with the Ti frame but lots of the other bits will be used on my other bikes or put up for trades (The revolution crank is not for sale :D )

One question I have is the geometry... seat tube and top tube are proper for a 19.5" frame BUT the head tube is VERY short... so I assume it's meant for a fork with a decent amount of travel for it's day... my only questions is why there would be a cantilever hanger on it? i.e. I thought that would be long gone by the time frames were built with that much of a suspension correction to the frame??

I'll be adding more pics, these are just some teasers (please comment on the odd sizing... thanks!)

Nice..now hanfd it over, I'll have that thanks...:)

'96 is about when they started making v-brakes (well shimano) so they were still new then. And I would have thought designed around a 50-65mm fork, head tube looks about as long as the one on my 96 xizang, which came with the tab to mount a canti cable hanger.

Hello,

My Scott Comp Racing frame (from '94) has a head tube of 95 mm, too, and it's top tube is around 570 mm, and it has a similar effective seat tube length (I mean mine has a near horizontal top tube with a normal rigid fork, while yours is more likely sloping). Works well with a Marzocchi Bomber Z2, which has 65 mm of travel. I think that you could try to search a lighter fork with around this amount of travel, and you will be right.

Ok cool! I'll get a stem with some rise too (5-10 degrees) to make up the difference

Thanks!

Yes, I am using 6 degree with around 120 mm of length. But you can play with the headset spacers too, if the fork steerer is long enough.

True, and with a head tube that short I should have some room for spacers on most steer tubes

Thx!
