1996 Dean Carbore FS

Retro Newbie
This is my Retro baby. Built it in 1996. Just received the Risse Astro 5 rear shock for Christmas.

Frame is B4C-AL matrix composite. With new rear shock, frame weighs 3.7 pounds.

Raceface bar, stem, cranks, BB
Ringle hubs & skewers
Mavic 217 SUP rims
XT brakes & derailleurs
XTR cassette
Time ATAC pedals
Real chainrings
Rockshock Q21R with Speedsprings
Grip-shift 3x8 shifters

Haven't weighed it since installing the rear shock, but it's in the neighborhood of 24 pounds. Only the rear shock, bar, stem, tires, and seat are modern components. The Ritchey grips are the oldest component (from 1991 and still intact). Still use my 1996 Camelbak MULE. Received a military grade replacement bladder for Christmas as well.

Now just waiting for some warm weather to stretch its legs.

Nice to be part of the community here.

Hi RKR,

Nice Dean you have there. Just top it of with some nice DEAN stem, bar and seatpost ;-)

I wish mine would be as far as your's is. I forst have to figure out how to get the BB fixed.
As it has a crack in it :-(

Good luck with that great bike !
