I was playing hooky this afternoon, and decided to take some photos of my breezer magic-gear singlespeed.

Re: My Breezer Lightning Singlespeed

Beautiful frame set in what appears to be ace condition  !

But.. where's them pedals? Or are you singlespeeding downhill only?

Re: My Breezer Lightning Singlespeed

Loving Breezer though i think SS does not do it justice.....and V-brakes neither....but ace condition it is. Can't wait for mine to arrive soon.

Best regards

Moritz

Re: My Breezer Lightning Singlespeed

thanks for the comments. i think this is my 5th breezer lightning? i've probably ridden more hours on breezers than i have on all other bikes combined. i recently broke the very first one i bought as a 14-year-old (pic below), a singlespeed on which i had put huge miles. this was such a devastating event that i decided to build myself an especially minty one, as an homage of sorts.

i've been practicing huge restraint, and I haven't ridden this one yet, aside from around the neighborhood, as it's not quite finished. regarding the brakes, they were OEM (see catalog below), and they're some of my favorite brakes. i'm still hoping to find some NOS ritchey cranks and champagne/gold wcs pedals like pictured in the catalog below, as the cranks are the only used part on the bike, and it's still obviously sharing a set of pedals with my other bikes.

my office is moving to a new location this spring which will open the possibility of biking downtown for lunch or across the street to the park for some trails, so i thought i'd start keeping this breezer in my office. it's ready for a rebuild, and this time i'm planning to complete the 1996 shimano xt 3x8 group, add a ritchey force lite cockpit, and try to get the breezer decals for the fork. here's the plan:

Frame: Breezer Lightning 1996
Fork: Ritchey Logic Force Directional (needs Breezer decals)
Headset: Chris King No Thread Set
Stem: Ritchey Force Lite
Handlebar: Ritchey Force Lite
Grips: Ritchey True Grips
Brake Levers: Shimano XT
Brakes: Shimano XT
Shifters: Shimano XT
Front Derailleur: Shimano XT
Rear Derailleur: Shimano XT
Crankset: Shimano XT
Bottom Bracket: Shimano XT
Chain: Shimano IG70
Cassette: Shimano XT
Hubs: Shimano XT
Rims: Velocity Aeroheat
Spokes: DT Champion 15g w/ Alloy Nipples
Skewers: Shimano XT
Tires: Onza Aggro 26x2.1
Seatpost: Ritchey Force Directional
Saddle: Selle Italia Flite Ti
Pedals: Shimano XT

Re:

it took a little time to acquire some of the parts, but i'm nearly done now. here are some pictures from starting the build. the post and chainring are both placeholders for now.
