Kona fire mountain

I was chatting to one of the guys at work the other week when I mentioned my kona chute.
The guy turned round and said that if I wanted it, there was an old kona sat in his back garden.

I didnt think it would be much cop but I said id have a look....

Well its (I think) a 97 fire mountain.
I remember my mate having one from the same year but in the other colour option (metallic blue).
The back wheel has had it:( and the front one needs a couple of new spokes.
The seatpost is bent :( but I managed to wrestle it out :)
The tyres have seen much better days as the sidewalls have collapsed and the right crankarm is slightly bent.
Other than that, its in pretty good shape.
I was thinking about throwing a black deore lx chainset on it a pair of different wheels on it and just giving it a clean.
I havnt had a steel bike in about 12 years or so should be "interesting" to see how it goes.
Im not too sure about the frame size but its 19 inches from centre of bb to top of seat tube... but if i stand over it , it feels tiny....

any ideas??

Oh forgot to add.....got it for free

Is that STX RC on it?

And P2's?

Not bad for free!

Clean it and off to the Bay with it then?

looks like some one partially attempted to snowflake the spokes

good find, could be very tidy.

well ive had it since about 5pm and its now 7:40...
The wheels have been changed, ive bunged an old deore lx chainset on, oiled the chain with the motex stuff I use on my crossers (kills rust dead!!)
and been out for a spin.

Has been a few years since I had rigid forks on anything and forgot this until I started to decend the triple set of steps at the end of my road....
....and also remembered why Im such a fan of maguras instead of cantis...

But on the whole it seems to be a bit of a score.

Quick on the steering and the tracking is brilliant thanks to the old P2 forks.

I'm thinking about keeping it for a shopping and turbo training bike.
( sorry to the guys who have already sent me PM's but I will bear you in mind if I come to sell or split).
