Can you help me with the year? Serial number is just over 1,000.. I think 89? 1" steer tube

It's a 19"... Debating if I should keep it... I really wanted a Rocky Mountain Titanium frame but this may have to do for now...

Re: Merlin Titanium... Guess the year...

Awesome welding. Surely that's pure GH's handiwork. More pics of the frame and build please.

Re: Merlin Titanium... Guess the year...

Thanks! I have attached some more pics... any info on it would be great...

Question.. how do I install the rear brakes? It has no holes for the spring peg???

It came with maguras when I bought it (they don't need the hole)

thanks

Re: Merlin Titanium... Guess the year...

I think it would be 1989, maybe 1990. This is the information I have:

1-59 (198:cool:
60-139 (1989)
3518-3604 (1990)

You notice a distinct lack of serial numbers between 139 and 3518. The WTB Greasegaurd BB, straight chainstays, and rear brake cable noodle all point to 89/90. The head badge was probably added later. I don't know when those became common. Certainly not in 1989/90.

Re: Merlin Titanium... Guess the year...

I would agree with 1989. I'm not sure how the missing serial numbers 140-3517 (as per Classen's post) ran but I do know that 1343 was January 1990!

Those are U-brake rear brake studs my friend. :?

Hmmm then how come the maguras lined up Nicly? Was the rear magura designed for U-Brake studs?

Re: Merlin Titanium... Guess the year...

Maguras can be made to fit u brake studs by flipping the mounts.

Re: Merlin Titanium... Guess the year...

Hmmm... Ok.. Well that solves it... Frame is now up for sale hahaha

I'm going to be posting it in the for sale thread shortly...

I'm not a fan of U-brakes or Maguras...

Ill be selling frame, with new press fit BB, and maguras...

Feel free to ask any more questions here before I list it

Thx!
