Love this bike, plan on putting lighter wheels on it, and putting on a M737 XT brake / shifter combo. Going with a m737 rear cassette as well. Trying to drop rolling weight at the wheels/tires.

Looks good that

Thanks man, appreciate that. Its my most ridden trail bike. I tend to like it a little more than my hardtail unless the trails are super smooth. As always though as I get nicer bits for it they will make their way onto this frame. Going for mostly DX/XT as the bits show themselves.

Looks very clean!

Nice build!

thanks, I appreciate it. I need to take some new pics...it got a new wheelset since that pic, and also a 8 speed rear. Looking at some XT 8 speed shifters to finish the job off.

Here is where the bike sits now.... Its got a new mavic 217 wheelset with XT hubs. Z2 Bomber front fork, XT shifters/brake lever combo, Alps 4 on the rear, LX cranks, lightweight Wellgo Pedals, Cane creek headset, voodoo stem, etc. I put a lot of effort into this bike because it rides amazingly well. I use Strava and this old 1995 FSR is far better than my newer 2011 hardtail...its just all around faster and its very agile. Climbs really well too, the Alps 4 helped eliminate a lot of the rear suspension bob I was getting with the stock RST coil. Just love this bike....here are some pics....

That is just lovely!,,Stunning bike indeed :D ,just the right amount of travel for everyday use.I am buiding a '97 FSR but would love one of these in the fleet.
Will be looking out for one after I have finished the '97 just seems so practical as well as so much more pleasing to the eye than the more modern "clones".
Mark.

Thank you for the kind words good sir, there is plenty of travel for XC and Singletrack here in Kentucky. I do LOVE the way the bike looks as well. Its lines are very nice, and I just like the design of the overall bike. Any pics of your 97? Lets see em.
