Picked this up from E Bay a few weeks back for the sum of £30. Love these bikes as I already have a 92 diablo DX that I built last year. Plans are to strip, repaint and re-build using nice but not excessively expensive parts. I would ideally like -

XT rear mech
XT front mech
XT/DX thumbies
DX chainset - already have
Syncros 0 degree rise stem - black - already have
Ritchey Forcelite bars - already have
SUP rims/LX Paralax hubs - already have
Dyna Tech seat post - already have
Diacompe cantis - already have
Diacompe levers - already have
SPD`s
Flite Saddle

I will keep the build thread updated as I go along. Here`s how it has started -

Bike as advertised on e bay

Nice! Those tyres look alright too. A bargain at £30

The shop I worked in BITD sold Raleighs and we were given a promo Dynatech when they were released (an Encounter IIRC). My bike was stolen not long after and the boss kindly let me thrash the hell out of our Dynatech on the Quantocks whenever I wanted :D Never had one or even ridden one since but always love the build threads. Maybe one day.....

Helped by my younger Bro Will we began sanding down the frame by hand as we didnt want to use paint stripped because of the bonded construction of the frame. After about 2 hours we got bored out of our minds and decided to get it sand blasted. 2 days and £20 later here we are. Still needs a bit of finishing before paint so just need some good weather.

O.k. so had a chance to finish the paint job off at the weekend and start to fit a few basics. After much consideration we decided to paint it a mix between Ford Olympic Blue inspired by the MK1 escort RS 2000 and bright white. There will be an Olympic theme to the decals also.

Next is to contact Gil and get the decal designs done.

Nice.

Don't overdo the decals though!

I really like that. Very different and clean looking paint scheme compared to the usual Dynatech madness. Will be watching this one develop.
