This was the bike id lusted over for years but for some unknown reason never got hold of one until the end of last year.As far as i know i'm the 3rd Retrobike owner as its_kirby had it first and he bought it from a UK GT team rider from the mid nineties.I haven't a clue who that rider would be but anwser's on a post card please :D It has the diamond or bullet dropouts which are nicely done and much prefer these to the other dropout style.

I'd originally wanted to use the m900 on another frame and put a much more modern m970/m980 on the Xizang but as i go to start just look at it and think it looks just so right and would be a shame to change it.The forks i have to admit still work lovely and the bike has done the Quantock's quite a few time this year already and is hard to believe their 20 years old  The finish is a bit patchy in places but i know that happens on all the SL Ti's anyway so im not gonna loose any sleep over it.

Sorry for the iphone pictures

Re: GT Xizang

Nice one. That would get my vote in BOTM :D

Are they GT Tech Shop skewers?

Re: GT Xizang

Yes they are,and this is exactly how a Xizang should look, wish it was a 18" though!!

Looks clean and fast to boot!

Re: GT Xizang

superb!

Yes put it in the BOTM for this month, we need more GT's !

(there are too many konas in there currently)

Re: GT Xizang

That is stunning ! How the heck did you find this skewers ???????

I've been after them for my build !!!!!

Always been a fan of team built bikes spent many years lusting over a Xizang , worth a botm any day

Re: GT Xizang

Thanks guys.It does ride very well and shall ride it at this years Mayhem 24 hour.

The one one i do hate is the tyres though. As much as they were a game changer in the early 90s they are slow as you like as they drag and weigh a ton.Great for the rocks up the Quantocks though

Re: GT Xizang

Wow - the nicest GT I have seen in a long while. Build is perfect apart from the violet skewers... I love those Ti Onza Barends and the first generation ControlStem.

The decals suggest this is model year 93. 94 had orange/fire decals. Techically, 93 and 94 were the same.
