Hello,

I've been bitten by the Retro bug big time and have discovered the wonders of building and riding mid nineties MTBs.

So I've decided to share my first build with you all and garner constructive comments and generally bathe in the warm supportive glow of the retro community.

I hope you like it. I've really enjoyed building it and riding it has been a revelation- snappy, light, fast, comfortable and so much fun for so little wonga. But you all know that already.

19" 1995 Kona Cinder Cone bought here with Project 2 forks
1995 Ritchey Headset
1995 Kona stem
Brahmin bars of similar era with ODI super long BMX grips
2009 vintage Magura HS33 evos
SRAM x7 shifters 9 speed (modern)
SRAM X9 fr mech (shimmed) (modern)
SRAM X9 rear mech (modern)
Mavic Ceramic rim CrossMax SL (early 2000's?) ridiculously light and stiff
Cromagnon NOS CNC triple crankset (mid nineties)
Hutcinson Annacondas UST Tyres (early 2000's?)
Charge chopstick seat pin Wiggle Ltd edition orange (modern)
Modern Charge Spoon saddle Wiggle Ltd edition orange (modern)
Some cheapy orange QRs

So there you go! a bit different maybe?

Puts a smile on my face every time.

Rollo

Looks grate mate and welcome to Retrobike buddy.

Really like these frames.

Not too sure about the orange bar ends/grips. I probably would have gone for a nice short stubby bar end but hey, each to their own and contact points on a bike (saddle, grips and pedals) are defo a personal preference thing.

Have always liked this era of Kona.

Nice One.

Ha! Thanks for all the comments and the imagery!

What kind of thing would you suggest should replace the ODI extra-longs on the Brahmin bars?

Educate me please

All the best
