This is my commuter I picked up last year from EBay for £90. Some little frickers have tried to steal it from the train station twice so the decals have become scuffed in places but apart from that it rides beautifully.
It's got Deore SIS Light Action 7s Shifters, STX front and rear mechs, Race Light Cromoly Butted frame, Project Two Forks and Weinmann Bontrager B3XC(?) wheels. I've taken the original tyres and saddle off and stored them and put some new Kona grips on as the old ones were dead.
Any help or info greatly appreciated!
Oh and is it worth putting v-brakes on or just keeping it original and finding decent pads?

Thanks!

Read this thread earlier when I found out mine was a 1994! Cracking little bike you've got there, if you want to sell it ill have it for my missus, she'd be far from impressed at matching retro bikes! ;)

Same as my first ever "proper" MTB.

I ended up using it as a commuter with slicks and narrow bars. Went like stink and handled brilliantly. Loved it.
