I'm not entirely sure of year, but looking after doing a little research i'm guessing 87 / 88?

It's looking a bit sorry for itself at the moment and looks like it's been laid up and unloved for quite a long time.

I've just ordered a pair of new tires and tubes, and plan to give rid of all the grot that covers it with a good clean, maybe some degreasent as well.

I haven't ridden a push bike for quite a few years now, but looking forward to getting this up and running. :D

If anyone can give me a bit more info on this model or any hints and tips or suggestions for doing it up i'd appreciate it. :)

Needs some TLC, but seems the color hasn't fade! Will be very bright!

Love to see how you will bring it back to live!

Looks like it has all its original exage mountain parts too  pretty rare these days. Functional kit if a little heavy in places.

IIRC Exage wasn´t the original group. The ´88 Rockhopper was factory-equipped with the Deore group. Seems like someone made an "upgrade" some years later.

Great find, see mine in my signature. You have a great bike there my friend, give it a good clean, strip and service and it will do you proud for years.

Nope! Exage is original for the 1988 Rockhopper. Here are some better pics of the '88 cataloge
