Hi guys, here are my recently completed '97 STS's.

They are both in fantastic condition for their 16 year vintage and still look as good as they did pinned up on my bedroom wall all those years ago.

I have tried to restore them both to their original spec. There are a few mods, but these are still from the correct period. The alloy and STS Lobo's are also nearly finished so these will be listed soon too!

I hope you like them. I'm happy to answer any questions or offer assistance to others building up similar classics :D

Find the link in photo bucket - they provide you with one for each photo. Just copy it into your post. Should start [IMG].

Both very nice 8)

Why has the ally headstock on the sts-1 been painted black? Was it an attempt to make it look like the newer carbon front ended one?

Thanks for the kind words guys!!

The Lobo's (Alu and STS) are still in development. I reckon March for the Alu and May for the STS. I've got all the bits... just need time and a bit of re-finishing... Some tasters below:

Very enjoyable process though :D

The STS-1 puzzled me at first regarding the front alloy headtube lug being black, but after trawling images on the web I found more. The decals are original and there is a headtube decal fitted. All I can imagine is that the later 97's had a an experimental black front lug and GT liked the look so made the full carbon front on the 98's.... I'm 99% sure it is a factory feature. I considered removing it, but I actually really liked it once built up :D Here are 2 other examples from the web:

Got a few of these spare too - PM me if you fancy them:
