So the quest for a Rocky Mountain proved fruitless - and so I went for this Brodie that SJS Cycles were selling on ebay.

Haven't seen it yet, but I thought I would get the ball rolling on my build thread anyway. My first task may be to paint it - all the local powder coaters are getting too expensive - and seeing as I have a new studio space.......I might have a go myself. Any tips would be welcome.

This is not going to be a period correct build - I will build it with parts stripped from my Breezer and see how far I get.

Lightening quick shipping from SJS means i now have the Brodie in my possession - thinking about a quick build to see how it feels - before stripping and painting.

Roy, do you know what size of seat post I need for this one?

Very well packed too :

Cheers Mr P - think I'm going to try this myself - already have the nitromorse in the shed - and am considering rattle-can'ing it. Seems like a worthwhile winter project.

Well if you already have decent ie old Nitromors you are half way there.

However if you have to start buying preparation and paint materials etc, powder coating could start to look cost effective.

Brodie's website only goes back to 2003 but they seem to be on every communication path possible. Try sending them a serial numebr and askign for info ?

I rattlecanned my daughter's bike a few years back. Do the sums on how many cans of primer/paint/laquer you need. Used about two of each thinking multiple coats would give a good finish. It did give a good finish (sort of metallic turquoise) but despite being left several days at at time between coats and ample (I think) time to harden off the paint still chips REALLY easily, so I spent another fortune on helicopter tape to preserve most of the frame

Probably spent around £50 on paint etc and that didn't include doing the forks

It was quite fun though :xmas-big-grin:

Powder-coating locally with be between £70 and £100 - also there is very little choice of colours. I am going for either racing or possibly NATO green.....will do the sums, but I fancy giving it a try.......air brushing is also an option.

Parts wise I am on the hunt for some NOS Diacompe SS7 levers...if anyone spots any can you let me know?
