DBR Axis Team Titanium

Like most retro projects this one has been on slow cook for a while! I got the frame last summer from a guy in California - now a member here as I saw an opportunity to recreate my last 'race' bike from BITD. I raced every weekend for four years from 1990-1994, everything from local cyclo-cross races, NPS XC and Grundig WC events and all bar two races were on a DBR Axis in various guises. I just loved the ride - and they fitted me so well. The best of the lot was a Team Ti with XT 737 which my dad kindly sold for me a few years later for £500! Thanks dad ;)

When building this I wanted it to be a regular rider and that dictated some component choices - namely the forks, White Bros being very stiff, and the full XTR M950 groupset. No CNC anodised kit here. No NOS M900. Oh - and just about every piece ot Titec titanium I could lay my hands on. Titec finishing kit is the law with a DBR build, just ask Jango!

Thats a great bike Kev. Very functional, yet cool. Interesting choice of components too.

But mostly its good as it means something and you spent the time. Nice :D

very nice..

Hey Kev,

awesome bike matey!

You have got the build spot on..Like previous comment very functional but very pretty :D

Like the RINGLE h-set by the way ;)

We should all have a bike like this in our stable( I WISH!)

Kev,

looks good. Manages to look nicely proportioned for such a large frame which is also an achievement.

Very nice bike, Kevin. Nice frame (how can you get these frames for your size so easily?) , very nice choice of parts ( WB forks, like´m a lot) and Titec parts, good color match, aestheticly perfect.

Congrats, buddy.
