Retro Newbie
Just acquired my new joy. 1997 Ritchey P-20 Team. All original except seat, pedals and fork. XTR breaks and drivetrain 2x9. Paint is beautiful with a few minor nicks. Original grips in great shape along with tires and pads. Bike has not seen many miles.

This will be my daily driver. New cables, housing, tires, seat and pedals. Recommendations?

I would like to hear some opinions on front fork. This blue thing has to go 98 RockShox SID

Ritchey

That's all standard Ritchey team issue, as sold with no add ons. Even has the Ultegra road mech too.
I always felt the colourway looked a "bit of a mess", with the "speedblast" stem, post and bars and the blue SID forks. Why they didn't go for All black running gear and the Red SID forks. I don't think Uncle Tom did sales any favours with the choice of parts, much as I'm a huge fan of the brand.

Bad Pic of one of my Ritcheys' on a dull foggy day (weighes 20.2 pounds) rides simply sublime, Schmolke bars, WCS stem and extralite levers at 204g for all 3 helps the weight, as does the WCS Ti bb. 144g, replacing the saddle to a modern wcs would lose another 200g.

Nice find :) I've always liked Ritcheys, looks like the stem front plate is upside down?

Well, I have been searching high and low for a 1" threadless Ritchey fork with no success. That blue shock had to go for the time being so I painted it white so I could sleep a little better. The shock still sucks and will be replaced as soon as I find something worth replacing with. Suggestions on front shock?

This bike rides amazing and climbs like crazy. Compared to my old LTS 1 this thing rides like a Porsche. I replaced the seat with a white Ritchey and put some street tires on for my daily commute. I can only imagine how the bike will handle with a proper front end.

I have an order in for some Ritchey decals but I provided the wrong zip code so there is no telling where the package currently is. I just moved to CO from GA and got a bit confused with those numbers.

I have attached some better pics and opinions are welcome.

P20

Looks much better with the White Sliders, don't know what Uncle Tom was dreaming about when he thought up this colourway!
Distinctive yes! But not with the Blue Sids up front. I always felt all Red with the white sections or all blue would have looked much sharper.
They are all stunning bikes frames though, perfect in every way, as light as Titanium and carbon, yet with all the advantages of steel and the super sharp, but forgiving ride.

Great bike!

If it where mine I'd use a 1997 Judy dh with sl internals. The fork legs are red, white with uci pin stripes.. Perfect match IMO
