Retro Newbie
Hi all,

Come across this site where trying to get some info on my bike and thought may aswell join.

Ok so the bike is a old GT which I've had for years an years, at the weekend I decided to ebay it as its not used any more, after various questions about age and frame etc decided to do a bit of research and I think it could be a 1995 Avalanche???

Trouble I have now is after looking at pics of them online I think I want to keep it and tidy it up!

looks like a generic mid 90's backwoods /ricochet /tempest /arrowhead/avalanche

seatpost dia and bottom bracket shell width might narrow it down

some late upgrades too , not really retro but still very usable

Welcome to the forum.

If you look in the archive, you will find some scans of old GT catalogues and you may be able to date your frame from those.

Looks like the basis for a good first project.

Seat post is 26.2 ish
Bb shell between 72-73mm

Wheels, forks, brakes and shifters have been changed a few years back as the originals where not to good. I have the original wheels still which are fine.
If I can find out the frame details then I will try and build the bike back to original spec.

Is there any way of finding out from the serial number??

Will have a scan through archives when I'm in work tonight so I can use the pc

26.8 maybe for the seat post ?
if its a 73 mm b/b shell it might be a backwoods or a ricochet
whats the serial no ?

Rear mech looks like 94-96 Alivio. Looks like the Backwoods in the 96 brochure.
