Bontrager Ti Lite rebuid

Ian C hill

Retro Newbie
Well it was about time I did it, I was lucky enough to buy a Bontrager Ti Lite in 1996 and have been enjoying it ever since. At the end of last year I made up my mind to have a little revamp 5 months later and a lot of leg work and great help from a local bike shop it's done, hopefully not to much bling.

Frame Bontrager Ti lite medium.
Full XTR M900 & M950 groupset mix.
1" Pace RC36 steath 80mm travel fork (new from Pace very lucky boy)
Wheels rebuid on new M900 XTR hubs with Mavic XC717 rims.
Panaracer 1.8 Fire XC Pro tyres.
Bontrager RXL carbon seatpost with Selle Flite saddle
Spank Spike pedals.
1" Ritchey WCS headset (limits you a bit).
Stem and Handlebars Control Tech system4 with Crank Bros lock grips and Bontrager carbon bar ends.
Held together with Hope skewers and seat clamp etc.

And how does it ride, well quickest thing up hill Iv'e been on (just a shame I am not any more), mind you thats all I have been riding.

I hope it meets your approval

Wow that is gorgeous !! Really gotta get me some titanium in my life

How does it ride ? Looks like the fork is wee bit tall for the frame ?
Sweet looking build though again I love the colour highlights ..

What gorgeous frames, Bontrager and Sandvik working together with Perfect results.

Thanks for your comments, it did raise the front end by just under an 1" but has had no real effect on the ride which is great

Fork, seat and tires looks silly on such a beautifull titanium frame.

I disagree.

Nice result, I think that's a great looking bike, ready for years more service.

Wow, somehow I missed this one :)
Great looking bike, nice components choice.
Makes me really want one
Have fun riding!

Looks great. I'm not keen on the tyres and the modern bottle cage, but that's my taste and it's your bike after all.

Always nice to see a Ti-lite.
How you getting on with the spank pedals, I took mine back to the shop as I didn't get on with them- just didn't feel right, not concave enough.
